Section Wars 2022-23
Section Wars is an Inter-Sections Sports and Cultural event which is conducted every year by the Sports Club and Rang – the cultural club of IIM Raipur. Section Wars 2022-23 was an 18-day grand event in which several Sports events were conducted by the Sports Club and it was played by all 5 sections including the Senior and Junior batch both. Swimming
The Swimming Competition was held on 11th February, 2023. The event was held separately for both boys and girls at the Swimming Pool arena of Sports Complex “Akhada”. The competition featured a 25-meter freestyle swim for women and a 50-meter freestyle swim for men.
The king of Squares
The chess competition (King of squares) was held on 7 February 2023. This event included an open knockout chess competition where winners were decided on winners of the knockout matches. The competition was held in college mess.
The Herculean Showdown
The Powerlifting competition (The Herculean Showdown) was held on 7 March 2023. This event included Deadlift and Bench Press where ranking was done based on the maximum weight correctly lifted out of three attempts given for both (deadlift & Bench press), Maximum weight lifted for the Bench Press was added with the maximum weight lifted for the deadlift. The event was held separately for boys and girls on the same day.
Sportify 2.0
It was the second event of its kind held in two successive years. It was an online sports-based quiz hosted on Unstop. The quiz consisted of questions from different fields of sports like cricket, football, basketball etc. There were multiple choice questions as well as short answer type questions. Participants were awarded 1 mark for every correct answer and .25 marks were deducted for every wrong answer only to the MCQ type questions.
Sheh Maat
It was an online event concluded in multiple rounds. The event was hosted on Lichess.org and saw participation from colleges across the country. The initial three rounds were of the knockout format which pushed eight participants into the final round where the winner was decided through a round robin series of matches.
Run for Unity
To mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and celebrate the National unity day (October 31), sports club organized Run for Unity, a 5km run outside the campus for all the students, faculty and staff. The run was flagged off by our director Dr Ramkumar Kakani from the roundabout in front of Karmshila, 7:00AM in the morning. While the first person crossed the finish line within 37 minutes of the start, the run came to an end in 1 hour 15 minutes. We had 60+ people participating in our event with every participant completing the run.
