PhD in Management (Practice Track) 2026
AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
The Institute presently offers PhD in Management (Practice Track) in the following areas of specializations:
ELIGIBILITY
- A Master’s degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA/grade point average.
OR
- Any professional qualifications such as CA/ICWA/CS, along with a graduate degree, with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA/grade point average.
OR
- A Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme in any discipline, with at least 55 percent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
OR
- A four-year year/8-semester full-time Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 75 percent marks or equivalent CGPA.
Note:
1. Five Percent marks/CGPA relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PWD candidates
*The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate will be calculated based on the practice followed by the respective university/institution. Regarding grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks will be based on the procedure certified by the respective University/ institution. If any University/institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence will be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 06 years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience (post qualification) as of the last date of application . The programme is open to all nationalities.
Only relevant post-qualification work experience in terms of completed months will be considered. Candidate should ensure that the work experience claimed by the candidate is authentic and professionally significant enough to deserve credit. For instance, no consideration is given to any time spent as an intern, either during or after the course of study in a programme, or any periods of apprenticeship such as articleship required as part of certain professional courses, or any unpaid work undertaken in any organization or institution.
The work experience will be verified based on the following documents. These documents should be submitted for work experience in all the organizations for which the candidate has reported on the application form.
- Experience Certificate on a letter head of the employer organization carrying a seal of the employer and be duly affirmed by the authorized signatory.
Or
Offer Letter and Relieving Letter having date of joining and relieving date. - First & Last month pay slip or Bank Statement for the entire experience period.
- In case the applicant is a proprietor or partner of a firm, the candidate must provide the following documents:
- Certificate of registration for doing a business from the municipal corporation or appropriate authorities such as MSME certificate issued by Govt. of India, Udyog Aadhar Registration Certificate.
- The Partnership deed of the firm duly signed by all partners.
- GST registration certificate
- Income Tax Return (ITR) for the relevant period
Important Note:
Candidates must mention the joining and relieving dates on the application portal precisely as per the documentary proof available to them.
SELECTION PROCESS
HOW TO APPLY?
The completed application for admission to the PhD in Management (Practice Track) Programme shall include the following:

TEST SCORES
Candidates not having the said tests scores must qualify the Research Aptitude Test (RAT) to be conducted by IIM Raipur. See the “Admission Criteria” section for more details.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
The supporting documents will consist of:
- Self-attested copies of mark sheets or transcripts of grades obtained during the course of study for the above degrees. Transcripts in languages other than Hindi and English must be submitted along with certified translations.
- Self-attested copies of School and University degrees.
- Percentage conversion certificate from College/University (In case of CGPA/CPA).
- Two references with their contact details and their respective email IDs from academics who have taught the candidate or with whom the candidate has worked closely on scholarly work. However, the supervisor at work could write a reference, if the candidate has been away from the university for a long period.
- Self-attested Copies of Work Experience Certificate.
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Statement of Research
APPLICATION FEE
The online application form will be available on our website www.iimraipur.ac.in . Application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500 in case of NC-OBC, SC, ST, DAP) for each area applied is to be paid online.
NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE
Candidates have to submit the No-Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of admission.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Test Score (CAT, GATE, GRE, GMAT, or JRF (UGC/CSIR) or UGC-NET) cut-off to shortlist for PI
The CAT, GATE, GRE, GMAT, JRF (UGC/CSIR) or UGC-NET percentile will be used for shortlisting candidates for PI. The tentative category-wise minimum percentile is as follows:

In case a prospective candidate does not have valid scores on either of these three exams or they have not cleared the required cut-off, they would also have the option to appear for the RAT (Research Aptitude Test) that would be administered by IIM Raipur on campus, when the candidate comes for the admission process. The admission process will last around two days. On the 1st day, those candidates who do not have valid exam scores or who don’t have the required cut-offs would appear for the RAT. Those who fail to clear the minimum cut-offs in RAT would not be considered for subsequent PI. On the second day, the respective panel members will interview those who clear RAT.
The respective area will decide the number of candidates to be called for PI based on the shortlisted merit list prepared for each category and specialization. However, if the number of shortlisted candidates was more than the required number of candidates to be called for PI category-wise, then the overall and section-wise minimum score would be increased to get the desired number of candidates.
PERSONAL INTERVIEW
After the shortlisting, as per the entrance test score, the candidate must physically appear for a personal interview at the IIM Raipur campus. The selection panel will assess the suitability of the candidates for research work based on the candidate’s portfolio. The committee will look into a consistently good academic record, professional accomplishments, research interests, etc..
PREPARING THE MERIT LIST
Merit Lists will be prepared specialization-wise based on Academic Qualification and Personal Interview.
The following criteria will be applied for preparing the merit lists.
- Personal Interview (75%)
- Academic Qualification (25%): For Academic profile, following will be the weights:
- 10th Standard: 5%
- 12th Standard: 5%
- Graduation: 10%
- Post-Graduation: 5%

IMPORTANT NOTE
Disputes, if any, concerning admissions to PhD in Management (Practice Track) 2026 would be subject to the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of Chhattisgarh state only.
