Earlier, Dr. Navneet served as Associate Director at the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India.
With over two decades of diverse experience in industry, academics, and family business, Prof. Navneet brings rich insights to his MBA class, executive training programmes and family business clients. He has been researching various dimensions of family businesses, which include, professionalization, governance, next-generation leadership development, values, and philanthropy. Prof. Navneet has Chaired family business tracks at prestigious international academic conferences including the Strategic Management Society (SMS) India Special Conference - 2018 and the International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA), at University of Bergamo, Italy in 2019. In 2024, he served as the Chair of the Asian Circle of Family Firm Institute, Boston, the premier institution of academicians and practitioners in the field of family business.
Prof. Navneet has been an invited Speaker at various fora including the FFI Annual Global Conference at London Business School (2024); Next-Generation Leadership Summit by CII-FBN (2021); Developing Family Business Case Studies by Sage Publishing and NUS, Singapore (2021) and Family Business Leadership Talk – Masters in Family Business (MFaB), ISB
Prof. Navneet has published several articles in top peer-reviewed journals (including FT50) and contributed chapters to multiple research handbooks on family entrepreneurship. He has authored several family business case studies that are published by Harvard, Ivey, and Sage Publishing. His case studies have been taught at prestigious institutions including, MIT, UT-Austin, and Boston College. He serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for several top-tier journals in the field of business management. Prof. Navneet has also authored several articles on family business topics for many renowned publications, including Campden FB, FFI Practitioner, The Economic Times, Business Standard, Financial Express, Moneycontrol.com and Business Today.
Prof. Navneet has helped several small and mid-sized Indian family businesses in dealing with their professionalization, governance, and leadership development challenges. He has conducted executive training sessions for family business members on: Developing Next- Generation Leadership for Family Business, Importance of Values and Tradition for Next- Generation Family Business Leaders, Personality Assessment to Identify-Job Fit in Family Business, and Family Business Philanthropy.
Prof. Navneet has a PhD from the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, India. His doctoral work was based on the assessment of firm competencies essential to foster service innovation. Prof. Navneet also holds the Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising (ACFBA) from the Family Firm Institute, Boston, USA. He received the Outstanding Reviewer Award at the Family Enterprise Research Conference-2019 in Burlington, USA. He is the recipient of the Fitzpatrick & Francis Family Business Continuity Foundation Scholarship 2020 and the de Visscher Advisers Scholarship 2018 awarded by the Global Education Network of FFI, Boston.
