Research Workshop and Seminar Series

The Research office is pleased to invite you to the Research Workshop and Seminar Series on “Enabling Social Change through Humanizing Managerial Decision Making.” This event, organized by the Research Office, will take place on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

About the workshop:

Enabling Social Change Through Humanizing Managerial Decision-Making Research both focus on addressing the mounting global challenges facing humanity. In response to these challenges, organizations are increasingly called to engage in social innovation in service (SIS). This workshop will explore how managerial decisions often lead to unintended consequences, a critical yet underexplored area in academic research. By examining this distinction and its implications, the workshop aims to enhance our understanding and foster effective strategies for addressing global issues through humanistic and transformative approaches in management.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Jyoti Bachani is a Full professor at Saint Mary’s College of California. Her research focuses on humanizing organizing through the arts, particularly poetry and improv. She teaches strategy, management of creativity and innovation, and digital storytelling, emphasizing experiential pedagogy, simulations, and case studies for co-creating sustainable futures. Previously, she was a strategy consultant to Fortune 200 companies. She has authored numerous articles, case studies, and six books, and has held editorial roles with Organizational Aesthetics and Journal of Management Inquiry. As the founding editor of Emerald Emerging Markets Case Collection, she has received several accolades, including the Fulbright Senior Research Scholar, Academy of Management’s Best Paper Award for Field Research, Outstanding LaSallian Educator, and the Greater Good Award from her college.
