1. AARAMBH 2024 – Batch Bonding Through Sports

Celebrating National Sports Day, AARAMBH 24 was conducted on August 27–28, 2024, to promote faculty-student and inter-batch bonding. The event featured volleyball, squash, and badminton (men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles) in a friendly format. Seniors emerged as overall champions, with faculty winning the squash event. AARAMBH successfully blended fun with interaction, setting the tone for a collaborative academic year

2. Samarth – Inter-College Sports Competition

“Turn Sweat into Gold and Pain into Glory”

Samarth 2025, held on 22nd and 23rd February 2025, was the flagship inter-college sports event organized under IIM Raipur’s annual fest MIRAI. The event brought together over 400 athletes from leading institutes to compete in Cricket, Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, and Online Chess. It witnessed fierce competition, with stellar performances across disciplines. IIM Raipur proudly secured MVP (Most Valuable Player) titles in Cricket (Dharmendra Yadav) and Football (Abhishek Barla), underlining the home team’s excellence. Samarth was sponsored by Decathlon, which provided logistical and inventory support, including sports kits, coupons, and MVP merchandise, further elevating the professional execution of the event.

3. Section Wars – Inter-Section Championship

Held from 25th November to 8th December 2024, Section Wars was a mega intra-institute event conducted in collaboration with the Cultural Club Rang. The event combined athletic competition with artistic expression, driving participation across all MBA sections. Sports events included Cricket, Futsal, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Throwball, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, and Weightlifting. Each section fielded teams in multiple disciplines, with Section E emerging as the overall champion. Rishav Raj from Section A (Men) and Simran Jadhav from Section E (Women) were awarded MVP (Most Valuable Player) titles for their outstanding performances. With tremendous enthusiasm and full-batch engagement, the event created a vibrant campus atmosphere. Decathlon sponsored this event, significantly enhancing the quality of execution.

4. Institute Premier Leagues (IPL Series)

A benchmark of innovation and competitiveness, the Institute Premier Leagues redefined intracollege sporting engagement through professional-style player auctions and team ownership models.
The IPL series included:

  • IIM Raipur Cricket Premier League (8–15 March 2025): Teams like Mamta Jogi (champions), Gully Gangsters, and Pookie Blinders competed in a round-robin format, with Mamta Jogi emerging victorious.
  • Basketball Premier League (10–13 March 2025): A high-intensity best-of-three tournament between juniors and seniors; seniors claimed victory.
  • Futsal Premier League (15–17 October 2024): Four teams, player auctions, and lucky-draw team owners made this one of the most strategically engaging events; Soul Shooters emerged victorious.
  • Volleyball & Throwball Premier League (17–19 January 2024): Three teams competed with Alpha Warriors winning in volleyball and Handlers in throwball.

These leagues gave students a taste of team management, auctions, and high-stakes strategy.

4. Cricket Carnival 2025

From 3rd to 15th February 2025, the Sports Club hosted Cricket Carnival, a fast-paced box cricket tournament featuring 16 teams and 144 participants. The tournament saw electric matches and fierce rivalries, culminating in Team Pookie’s championship win, with Team Thunders as runner-up. In addition, a friendly exhibition match between the Sports Club Team and E-Cell Team added a touch of fun and inter-club camaraderie. The event stood out for its inclusivity, engagement, and flawless execution.

5. Friendly & Outreach Matches

To strengthen inter-institutional relationships and expand IIM Raipur’s athletic presence, the club organized two key friendly matches. On 10th October 2024, a cricket match was played against Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), fostering competitive goodwill. Additionally, the club hosted a friendly match with the Adani Training Program team, further building corporate-student interaction through sports. Both matches highlighted the Sports Club’s initiative to engage beyond the campus and showcase IIM Raipur’s sporting prowess.

6. Swachhathon – Fitness for a Cause

On 4th September 2024, the Sports Club organized Swachhathon, a 5 km marathon under the “Swachhata Pakhwada” initiative. With 55 participants, the event combined environmental awareness with fitness, emphasizing the importance of personal health and social responsibility.
Winners across men’s and women’s categories were felicitated, and the initiative strengthened IIM Raipur’s commitment to sustainable practices through sport.

8. Match Screenings – T20 & Champions Trophy Finals

To foster collective sporting enthusiasm, the club organized two large-scale screenings. The T20 World Cup Final between India and South Africa was screened at Akhada on 29th June 2024, drawing over 100 students. Later, the Champions Trophy Final was screened at Madai, attracting 250+ students. Both events created unforgettable atmospheres of unity and celebration, reinforcing the campus’s passionate sports culture.

9. College Team Trials & Inter-College Representation

The Sports Club conducted official trials from 15th to 18th September 2024 for various sports. These selections enabled IIM Raipur to send its strongest contingents to top-level inter-college tournaments like Samarth and SAMAR at NIT Raipur, where the Women’s Basketball Team secured runner-up position, showcasing the club’s external competitiveness.
